it's your {day}

Happy Sunday to ya!

I haven't had a lot of time to make cards in the last week or so, but I did manage to put one together in time to mail off to one of my sweet nieces.  I used the current sketch over at Mojo Monday --I think it's a really fun one with so many possibilities!  Anyway, here's what I came up with for her:
I'm not crazy about the balloon strings, but I opted to go with the softer embroidery floss rather than the tougher twine that may have been curled/shaped a bit.  I did that mostly because my twine wasn't the color I wanted, but a little because I was afraid the twine might get all funky during the several days it would spend being crushed by the mail service.

If you didn't know, I'm a big huge fan of dies.  That said, I didn't have a single balloon die to be found so I had to get creative and turn a tag die upside down for a makeshift "balloon."  While I would have preferred smaller balloons, I was just happy that it worked out.  Not wanting a plain balloon in front, I also found an old embossing folder {one that came in a set of four once upon a time way back when they were the new kids on the block} that somewhat looked like one of the larger flowers {or is it a fancied-up ladybug??} in the patterned paper --it was the perfect size for embossing the balloon, so I happily went with it.  Then it still seemed a bit boring, so I added clear WOS all over it, filled up the petals with Liquid Glass, and popped a pink half pearl into the flower's center.  All better now ;) ...only I wasn't able to capture any of the WOS in this photo {sorry --the clouds were starting to roll in}.  The WOS is also covering the pink balloon and the pink ribbon/bow on the cute little package.  Oh, and I also added it on all of the edges of the pink cardstock so there are touches of sparkly shimmer everywhere you look.  I thought my niece would like that.

Well, the weekend's almost over around here.  I hope that wherever you are and whatever you did over the course of yours it was enjoyable.

Thanks for the visit, and I hope you'll stop by again soon. Until then, many blessings to you!

Such a pretty card, Christi! I'm sure your niece is going to be beyond thrilled to receive this card. You've done an amazing job with the super creative balloons. I wonder if you maybe added a bit of liquid glue to the floss, you might be able to manipulate it to the shape you would prefer...or do you have any Waxy Flax from old Close To My Heart days? Just thinking out loud, there. Anyway, not that I think your balloon strings look bad, just thought of that cuz you mentioned it. The entire card looks fabulous to me. Hope you have a wonderful week! Hugs!
