{wisteria} wishes

Happy Sunday!

My family has been sick this week, so, in addition to playing nursemaid and gestapo {NO sugar, NO dairy}, I feel like I've been dodging bullets...and so far I've been fairly successful.  My tip:  lotsa prayer, more sleep than usual, nourishing chicken soup with homemade broth, extra butter oil/fermented cod liver oil blend {my choice is the Cinnamon Tingle flavor...everyone else wimps out and takes the capsules -lol}, soaking up some vitamin D {aka sunshine}, and no *receiving* kisses {that last one's been the toughest}.  BUT, if there's a positive side to having everyone in the house under the weather this particular week, it was that I could get my baby's birthday card made without my having to stay up until all hours of the night.  ;)

I knew she would like some brown in her card {one of her favorite colors...hmmm, wonder if it's because it reminds her of chocolate? lol}.  And when I went shopping with a girlfriend last weekend, we found some beautiful lacey rosette ribbon that just had to come home with us.  I knew I wanted to use one of them on my daugher's card.  And then I spotted the cutest package of dimensional {and glittered!} stickers.  I don't usually buy stickers {or any crafty items for that matter...lately}, but these were butterflies and flowers and I knew my daughter would love them. ;P

It was then I began putting her card together in my mind.  I almost bought a single piece of 12x12 at the store {the lavender was a perfect match to coordinate with the lacey trim and the stickers}, but opted to put it back because I was afraid that it would get wrinkled in transit. ;(  Plus, I figured with all the paper I had at home, I must have something that would work...and I figured I could always send my sweet hubby back for it if I really needed it {he's always sooooo good about picking things up for me on his way home from work, although if he had known about my Plan B, he'd have been really glad he got sick this week -lol}.

Well, once home, I coudn't find any patterned paper in my stash that would work to create the card I'd envisioned. ;(   BUT, the following day is when this week's Mojo Monday sketch found its way to my inbox...bingo!   I now had a fresh vision.  Love it when that happens. ;)

Here's what resulted:

It's a bit "older" looking than what I'd planned to make for my sweet baby girl turning 12 this week, but I think the whimsical butterfly and the die cut floral layer help to create a somewhat playful look {maybe you could humor me and tell me I'm right??}.  And if that doesn't do it, maybe I'll try to distract her by telling her this card holds my record for layering...I counted 14 layers of paper on this puppy!!  ;P  {Yes, it's a little heavy...glad I'm not having to mail it. lol}  In any case, I hope she'll like it.

Stay well! ;)

Thanks so much for the visit, and I hope you'll stop by again soon. Until then, many blessings to you!

Oh gosh, so sorry to hear your family has been sick. Hope they are back to 100% very soon.

What a gorgeous card. Seriously, Christi, I don't think you are capable of making any other kind. Wow! 14 layers!?! This is just stunning and your sweet baby will adore it, almost as much as I'm sure she adores you. So extremely well done!
