happy birthday {brother}

Hello again!  I decided I needed a longer break, so thought I'd share one more card I made recently.  ;)

This one was made using this week's sketch from Card Patterns, and it was sent to one of my {younger} brothers.  Ordinarily I don't make cards for him, but this year I did.  I made it very simple, though, because it's probably one that's already been tossed in the round file.  Oh, well.  I enjoyed making it and I hope he enjoyed receiving it.  That's what counts, right?

I broke into my Cosmo Cricket The Boyfriend mini deck and used a very small piece of Appreciation.  Sounds kinda funny.  A small piece of appreciation.  Maybe I should've used a generous piece instead. ;)  Okay, never mind.  I must be in a silly mood today.

Moving right's the card:

Granted, it's a little on the bland side now that I look at it here {I don't think it looked quite that dull in person}.  And it's a guy card.  Well, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. ;)   In hindsight, I probably should've put some wide dark blue grosgrain or twill or even cardstock behind the ric rac --SOMEthing to make it pop a little more-- Oh,'s too late now.

The card base is Kraft, and the colored mats are pieces of CTMH's Honey and Juniper cardstock.  The background was made by using an image from The Rummage Bin collection called For The Men {by Cornish Heritage Farms} stamped in VersaMark.  And I added the waxed linen stitches for a little interest, but I think I should've used some sort of template for my spacing.  Next time. ;)  And the little tags were from another fun set by Cornish Heritage Farms called Tag!  You're It!

How's that for short and sweet? ;)  Seemed a little too short...cuz now it means I need to quit stalling and get back to work on "the gift." lol

Did I mention that it SNOWed here yesterday? Pretty much most of the day, though none of it stuck...luckily.  Seems a bit toooo cold and a bit toooo early to have our first snow fall, but it was fun to watch and we enjoyed sipping on our warm beverages {I've been experimenting all week...tweaking the spices mostly...making my own chai tea latte, so that's been fun}.  We're supposed to be getting more snow over the weekend too, with lows dipping into the teens at night --BRRR!!  I think I'll be stayin' in and keeping warm and cozy...and hopefully finally finishing up "the gift" for Oldest Sweet Daughter, who's sick in bed with the flu today...1000 miles away and I can't do a thing to help her, but pray.  I don't even have a cute card made up that I could send her.   Again, bad mama, I know.  ;(

Okay, okay, enough already.  I'll quit stalling and get back to work.  ;)  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks so much for the visit, and I hope you'll stop by again soon. Until then, many blessings to you!

Oh Christi, I think the card is super and I'm sure he did, too.

I hope your "break" from {the gift} helped and you were able to finish it. Maybe this weekend, since today is supposed to be a total indoor day? I'm looking forward to seeing what you have created.

Thanks for the smiles!

Love the card, Christi... perfect for a guy. (But don't you wish that you could ask them for those buttons back before it hits the 'round file'?!? lol) Sorry to hear that youf daughter was sick. It's always hard when they are far away. Hope she has mended by now. Hugs.
