birthday bash {4 U}

Happy Friday to ya! ;D

We're having beautiful weather here today {and all three inches of snow that we woke up to last Saturday is just a memory --too bad the freezing temps that accompanied it didn't leave a lasting impression...cruelly turning to brown all of the leaves that were just starting to show their most beautiful and long-awaited shades of yellow, gold, orange, and red}.  And the strong winds we had yesterday tugged at many of the dead leaves, giving them a premature push sending them floating through the air, torn from their branches.  Seems like we skipped a season favorite season.  And I was so looking forward to capturing a few pics of the turning leaves, and now it appears I'll have to wait until next fall.  ;(

Well, tomorrow is my Oldest Sweet Daughter's boyfriend's birthday and so I had another guy card to make.  Always a bit of a challenge, but always much quicker than my usual cards...and I liked LauraB's comment that "sometimes less is more" --makes it a little less painful knowing they get tossed in the trash. ;)  And Susan, did you notice I omitted buttons this time? lol

I used this week's sketch from CPS, the stamps are from Birthday Bash {by Cornish Heritage Farms}, and the paper is from BasicGrey's Marrakech collection.  I'm not sure what my preoccupation with Kraft cardstock is at the moment {and I'm not trying too terribly hard to resist it's beckoning call to me}, but I am lovin' it for guy cards lately...and I am even envisioning it as the anchor for some mass-produced Christmas cards.

I paper-pieced the candle and used a few different Spica glitter pens for the 'flame' and on the little tag:

I'm hoping my Oldest Sweet Daughter won't mind too terribly much that her boyfriend's gift is arriving before hers {you guessed it...I'm still not done with "the gift," --it was the source of a brief meltdown I had on Saturday, but I've recovered and am making progress, slowly but surely...determined to not let it get the better of me -lol}

I'll leave you with a few pics of our hint of winter wonderland last Saturday:

Our dog is such an affection-hound that she'll even shamelessly enjoy patiently endure having the kids bury her in the long as they're hands-on and she's getting some lovin' she's happy.  Silly dog!

And here's Youngest Sweet Daughter's little snowman (or snowgirl, I suppose...I was informed the greenery sticking out of the back of its head is a ponytail -lol!):

The temps are forecast to be warmer tomorrow and there's no snow or heavy winds expected, and so we're going to our first bonfire tomorrow night --should be a lot of fun!!  And then, after giving myself a week's vacation from it...physically speaking only {my brain has found it impossible to make the departure}, I think I'll torture educate myself by working on "the gift" some more. ;)

So what are you guys up to this weekend?

Thanks so much for the visit, and I hope you'll stop by again soon. Until then, many blessings to you!

WOW you got a ton more snow than we did...and my ivy.. all brown and dead and no chance to go red. At least my burning bushes are going red!

Super duper birthday card, Christi! Bravo! I'm sure he's gonna love it.

Well, you got quite a bit more snow up there than we did down here. How funny that your pooch is so tolerant (or is it desperate for some loving?) LOL The snow girl is priceless!

Enjoy your weekend and good luck working on "the gift."
