Yep, it's been a year...and you KNOW what that means! ;)

I just realized that with my upcoming birthday in a few days, I'm also celebrating another 'anniversary' this week -- my blogiversary! Boy, this last year has just zoomed by!!

This past year I've met some of the SWEETEST people, seen some of the most AMAZING work, been INSPIRED by the caring hearts of others, and have just been truly BLESSED while exploring this technological wonder (and MAJOR time zapper -lol!) called blogging. So since you all have turned my blogging experience into so much more than I intended it to be (my only intent was to motivate me to stamp more often...and it has), and to take my mind off the years creeping up on me (AACK!), I thought it might be fun to offer up a gift to YOU who bring a smile to my face when you stop by and leave me such sweet comments. ;) I don't have a picture of all I'm going to give away (yet), mostly cuz I haven't totally decided -lol, but I think you'll like it -- everyone likes free goodies, right?! ;)

While blurfing in 2008, I noticed others requiring specific things from those hoping to win their blog candy (posting about the blog candy offering on their own blog or emailing friends about it if they didn't have a blog, answering a certain question, etc.), but the one that really impressed me was when Carolyn King asked her readers to choose a {NEW to them} blog from her blogroll, go visit that blog, and leave your chosen new blogger some love...then come back and tell what blog they visited and left their gift of words. This way, you have a chance to give something to others too...and maybe discover a new blogger that you wouldn't have otherwise. Sooo, that's what I'm gonna ask of you. Check out one of the blogs listed in my sidebar (remember, choose one that's NEW to you), and go leave them some love. Then come back here and let me know where you visited and left your comment (and I'll be checking). I know how much I love reading comments left for me, so I'll bet that others enjoy receiving comments too. So, how 'bout it? -- it'll be fun! ;)

Oh, and since we're talking anniversaries and birthdays today, I think I'll share the birthday card I made for my mom's birthday last week (the second one; the first one is still waiting for me to finish it and will be sent to someone morphed into something totally NOT my mom). I really like the way this one turned out. Hope you do too. ;)

The flower image is from Unity (I've become a huge Unity addict, er, I mean fan over the last few months), and the patterned paper is from the Sugared collection by BasicGrey (and it's on SALE right now for just $3 -- check it out!!!). I just LOVE this color combo!

Moving on to the card: I stamped the stem and leaves portion of the Scrappy Flower image onto some of the patterned paper using VersaMark and then embossed it with clear embossing powder. The flower portion of the image was also stamped with VersaMark and embossed with clear embossing powder onto some Baby Pink cardstock. Next, I stamped the "center" of the flower onto the pink 'patterned' paper from the Sugared pack, using Timber Brown Staz-On on JustRite's Designer Centers and Borders (it was the PERFECT size for this image, and I thought the swirls on the border worked well with the paper!). Then I sponged some Antique Linen Distress ink into the petals to bring out their detail and also around the edges of the circular center and around the entire image on the mat to soften it up a little. And to finish it off, I took my Cocoa marker and went along the outline on the leaves and stem to show off their pretty design (the clear embossing was lost among the patterned paper).

I plan to be busy for most of the weekend, so I think I'll give you until midnight MT (Mountain Time...or aka my time -lol!) on Sunday (the 25th) to come back here and tell me you've followed the rules for this giveaway. I'll put all the names of those who enter in a basket and let one of my kiddos choose the lucky winner and I'll post it on next Monday (the 26th). In the meantime, I'll gather up all of the goodies I've been tucking away for this occasion and post a pic for you. I hope you'll be enticed to play along. ;)

Whew! Sorry to have been so long-winded but if you're still with me, thanks so much for taking the time to visit, and I hope you'll stop by again soon. Until then, many blessings to you!

Economy Boosters (just doin' my part -lol!):

Happy Birthday and Blogiversary! How cool!

I love the card, but then, there's not much I don't like about what you create. Your attention to detail is fantastic! I'm sure you mom loves the card.

Thanks, too, for the sweet comments you leave on my blog. You bring a smile to my face!

Beautiful card and thought to give the love to others. I visited Lagniappe (I hope I spelled that right) and looked at several of the cards there. I especially was struck by one a few days back with a blue ruffled flower. It was simple but the colors just drew me in. That is where I left my lovin'.

What can I say about this card! It's even prettier IRL -- and I should know because I keep staring at it and admiring it. Such a special daughter I have who makes me such beautiful gifts! How blessed I am. Keep it up, daughter dear! Love, Mom
