Hello, Pretty Bird!

I wanted to play along with the others over at Cornish Heritage Farms for the Kim Hughes Blitz going on Thursday through Sunday -- they're giving away two Kim Hughes stamp sets each day, so I thought entering a card would be a good idea. ;)

I didn't have much time last night, so I made this clean and simple card and managed to get it posted before the deadline. I didn't win a stamp set, but it was a great incentive for me to get stamping again (I hadn't stamped in about two weeks --YIKES!-- where does the time go?!). And there's always tomorrow.... ;D

The challenge was to use Limited this case, it meant using only button(s), ribbon, cardstock, stamps, and a color scheme of orange (my *favorite* color -lol!), lime green, chocolate brown, and cream. I've never participated in a challenge like this before, so I found it refreshing to gather up the short list of supplies and then get to work.

I used Chocolate, Key Lime, Orange, and Colonial White cardstocks (all by CTMH). The stamps I used were from Kim Hughes' Pretty Birds (yep, I used that cute little birdie again!) and Cute Curls (the tree, the 'ground,' and the sentiment). The sentiment was stamped in White Daisy pigment ink, and the other images were stamped with Timber Brown Staz-On. I used a Key Lime marker to go over the lines for the 'grass' and tree 'leaves,' and I sponged on some Orange in the upper left corner of the focal piece to kinda mimic the glow of a sunset and the rest of the piece was dragged across the Chocolate pad to 'frame' it. The bird was cut out and colored with the waterbrush, then placed in the tree with a dimensional. (The orange/cream focal piece was adhered to the Key Lime piece using dimensionals as well.)

The sketch I used was a fun one I'd used for an Easter card a few months ago, created by Anna Wight. BTW, I just love her site. She and her husband live on a farm and raise all sorts of animals. In addition to her stamping and stamp designing, she's a wonderful photographer and she shares some really great pics of life on their farm. (Yes, for some odd reason I'm enamored by the country/farm life. Don't want to raise or care for livestock, but they're sure fun to look at. lol)

Even though I should be working on a wedding card, two Father's Day cards, and a few other cards for needs that have come up this week, there's a sketch challenge going on today (and two others over the weekend!) and I'm hoping to get started on that one after dinner. Maybe I can work it so that some of the challenge cards can be used for the cards I really *need* to make.... If I find the time and a big dose of creativity to participate in the challenge tonight, I'll share it with you tomorrow. Feel free to play along too (after all, who wouldn't {heart} a chance to win free stamps?!)...and be sure to come back and leave me a link to your creations! ;)

Thanks so much for the visit, and I hope you'll stop by again soon. Until then, many blessings to you!

Hello Christi,
You have some awesome card creations!
The card you have pictured is very pretty and I love the clean and simple lines. I'm glad that your family survived the recent tornado that was in your area. The past few days we have been under tornado watches and it can be scary. Thank you for visiting my blog Christi and have a great day.

Really nice card. Sometimes simple is best! I love the color combo, too. I am a big fan of orange, too, although, I rarely use it in my card creations. I'm inspired to try some now, just a touch! Thanks for sharing!
