Thank You Berry, Berry Much

I apologize to those of you who expect to see more than a post or two a week from me. I really admire and am amazed and inspired by all those who can create and post daily! But my reality is that home schooling has really put a crimp in my stamping time (and I've discovered that posting and blogging can really eat up a large amount of time too!) -lol! However, we're coming down the home stretch and only have SEVEN more weeks to go (yes, we're counting! lol), so I'm hoping I'll be able to stamp and share a lot more over the summer...AFTER I get my daughter's wedding invitions made, that is. ;)

I also want to apologize for the wonkiness of my blog -- the color variation on some of my longer posts and a few other noticeable issues here. Nicole is currently working on it, so it should be fixed really soon. ;D

Anyway...I've really been blessed by winning some awesome blog candy recently (not once, but THREE different times!! I'm still pinching myself!). Because of that, I now have several thank-you cards to send out (and I'm not complaining! lol), so I had some fun making a couple cards using the strawberry images and a sweet sentiment from
Green Thumb by Papertrey Ink. Both cards also use some luscious Out & About patterned paper I found recently at my LSS by My Mind's Eye (I *heart* MME papers!).

The first one is another Flap Fold card (the tutorial can be found
here). Again, I tweaked the dimensions to make this into a regular-size card, and I used a cereal bowl as my template for the curved flap (my Coluzzle templates are still boxed up for now). The card base is Cranberry cardstock, the focal image uses Cranberry, (retired) Summer Cloud Blue, and Colonial White. I stitched around all the edges of the patterned paper to create a bit more interest; the focal image has Cranberry ink on the edges of the Colonial White layer and some Sea Foam ink stippled around the sentiment and strawberries, and there are black (marker) dots in the scallops of the Summer Cloud Blue layer. The strawberry image was masked a couple times, the 'seeds' were made with a black marker, the little stem tendrils were added, and the berries were coated with a layer of Liquid Glass (mm-mmm, don't you just love fresh strawberries!).

The second card is my version of this recent sketch by Jen del Muro:

I went with the circle Nestie approach again on this one, but with a few slight changes: I used the larger strawberry image in the set, the Summer Cloud Blue was replaced with Sea Foam (though I've since decided I prefer the Summer Cloud Blue), and I added some Patina Stickles to the berry cap.

The vertical stripe on the right side was made by punching 3/4" circles, lining them up along the back side of the vertical patterned paper strip, and then (using the Crop-A-Dile) punching holes inside each 'scallop' -- it's a pretty cool trick if you don't have the hot new, nearly-impossible-to-get-your-hands-on Threading Water punch by Fiskars. {BTW, if you happen to know where *one* might pick up one of these illusive but oh, so sweet little treasures, I'd REALLY appreciate it if you'd leave that info in a comment here. It's not really to the point where I'd say I'm obsessed with finding one (yet! lol), but it is most definitely one of the items at the top of my Wish List...and if it wasn't already, it's probably on yours now too! ;D}

Along with my faux scallops, I also used faux stitching on this card, using black 'thread' instead of the white like I used on the first card (I think I prefer the black). The yellow accents down the right edge are Flame Dew Drops. And just in case you're wondering, No, the sentiment isn't's 'faux' real (sorry -- I couldn't help myself). lol

Thanks so much for the visit, and I hope you'll stop by again soon. Until then, many blessings to you!
