My daughter celebrated her eighth birthday on Friday, and so I made her this cute little Flap Fold card (Rose Ann Reynolds shared this tutorial on the Scor-Pal site -- they have a LOT of cool tutorials there, so you may want to check it out). I did adjust the dimensions on this card to make it into a standard-size card, but the smaller version in the tutorial is really cute too.
In my blurfing travels last week (don'tcha just love all the new blogging terminology -lol), I came across some darling cards using the paper tole technique (I think it was one of the various challenges over at Splitcoast), so I decided it might be fun to incorporate that here too. ;) It was my first time using that technique, and though it takes a bit of time having to color in all of your individual images, I love dimension and I really like how the added layers gives the card such a fun look! My daughter liked it too. ;)
The cupcake and candle are from Stampendous' Hey There Cupcake set and stamped on White Daisy cardstock (three times). I colored it all in with my ink pads and waterbrush, adding my trusty Dimensional Fabric Paint (hey, laugh all you want, but I'm still using it because I can depend on it...unlike my Liquid Applique, whose whereabouts are still unknown at this point! lol), sprinkled it with lots of Prisma Glitter, and added some Baby Blue Stickles to highlight the flower (the center of the flower is another dot of Dimensional Fabric Paint). I also used some Yellow Stickles on the candle's flame. All circle layers were cut using my classic and scalloped circle Nesties. The triple heart stamp in the background of the focal image is also from the Hey There Cupcake set, and I colored it in with my Hollyhock marker.
The card base is White Daisy, and the rest of it are layers of Sausalito and Angel Island patterned papers from BasicGrey's Phoebe collection and Heavenly Blue cardstock. I used my corner rounder punch (with the guard off) to scallop the flapped edge, stippled the entire panel in Heavenly Blue ink, then added a Hollyhock brad to each scallop. The dotted ribbon is from May Arts.
And before I go make dinner, I also have to show you the darling card my mom made for Chloe's birthday -- Isn't it darling?! I don't have all the details, but I do know she found the 'Princess' stickers at Target (they were intended to be used for a pet layout, I'm sure -- check out the "C"...it's a collar! lol). I just love what she did with this card!
Thanks so much for the visit, and I hope you'll stop by again soon. Until then, many blessings to you!
