A 'Modern' Easter

From the moment I first laid eyes on this Modern Cross image by Cornish Heritage Farms -- aside from the obvious Easter message it speaks to me -- it had masculine written all over it. I love that it's chunky instead of dainty, and I knew that I *had* to use it for my two young-adult sons. I'm sure I'll find other uses for it down the road, but for now I had Easter on my mind...and Jen del Muro's latest Sketch For You To Try.

Now, knowing that the younger of my two older boys would simply be tossing this card into the 'round file' after opening it (please tell me I'm not the only one with an unsentimental child -Ugh!), I went a little easier on myself and didn't think real hard about it, used minimal supplies and not so much of my time. lol It's a bit on the distressed side, since that fits his personality best. The other stamp used here is Stone Rolled Away, also by Cornish Heritage Farms (have I mentioned how much I love their stamps?!). I also used my oval Nestabilities dies, the Cuttlebug Distressed Stripes embossing folder, and some sandpaper. Not my best work, but considering it is destined for the trash can anyway, I figured I'd get some mileage out of it by sending it to him first. lol

I put a little more effort into this next one because I know this card will be kept, along with all the other cards he's been given over the years (yes, this son actually appreciates sentiment/emotion...I must've done something right somewhere along the line -lol). I custom-colored the Bamboo paper to give it more of a marbled 'stone' look, using a Bamboo stamp pad (direct-to-paper technique) and stippling on some Cocoa ink. In addition to the same Modern Cross stamp (but this time stamped on Cryogen White cardstock) and the oval Nestabilities, I also used the Cuttlebug Textile Texture embossing folder, and added the brads. The sentiment, He is Not Here (another one by Cornish Heritage Farms), is stamped in White Daisy pigment ink. Unlike the previous card, I really like the way this one turned out and I think/hope he will too. ;)

I have another Easter card to share with you, but it will have to wait until later. I need to leave to get the kids to their art class in a few minutes. Hope you're having a great day today (if anyone is reading this -lol!)!

Thanks so much for the visit, and I hope to see you again soon! Until then, many blessings!
