Easter Love

Here's another Easter card I made using two more Cornish Heritage Farms designs, the Cross With Vines and Easter Filled With Love, using only a portion of each stamp for this card. Sorry the picture's not so great. Seems like a lot of the focal image detail is lost in the scan. ;( Guess I really *need* to set up that cool lighting package I got a bit ago (and have yet to take out of the box -ugh!).

I started with my Two Scoops patterned paper and some Buttercup cardstock, which I'd run through the Cuttlebug with the Birds and Swirls embossing folder, then lightly sanded and inked with Bamboo to tone it down a bit and help it blend in with the Two Scoops paper. I matted this onto some Blush cardstock and zig-zagged the pieces together, then layered it onto some Baby Pink cardstock, and then set on a White Daisy card base (I love layers! lol). Next I used my classic and scalloped rectangular Nesties, using White Daisy, Baby Pink, Blush, and Curious Iridescent Cryogen White cardstock papers (going from the bottom layer up). I stamped the cross and sentiment using Bamboo ink and then stippled the Blush and Buttercup 'glow' in and around the images, coloring in the 'leaf' images. The white Just Blooms were stippled pink and then drug along the stamp pad to give them a little defintion; the centers are pale yellow decorative pearls. I thought it still needed something to balance it out, so I ended up tracing the vines with a thin drizzle of Frosted Lace Stickles. I don't think you can really see it in the scan, but it adds a nice touch IRL.

While I like it's decidedly more soft, feminine look than the Easter cards I made for my older boys, I'm still having a hard time getting around all the yellow on there (my DD loves yellow, but it's one of my least favorite colors so I have a really hard time creating with it). And I can't believe there's no ribbon on this card! The sketch is from Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge (although it's last weekend's sketch...are you starting to see a trend here with me? lol. I thought it was a really fun sketch and will probably be using it again real soon since I still have a handful of more Easter cards and a birthday card left to make this week. Here's the sketch, if you're interested in playing with it too:

Well, that's it from me today. And in case you're wondering, I'm still beaming after learning that I won all those beautiful wedding goodies Alli made. ;D

Thanks so much for the visit, and I hope to see you again soon! Until then, many blessings!
